How Engineering Works, Successfully Concludes 1-Day Automotive Semiconductor Functional Safety Seminar with the Korea Fabless Industry Association

Feb 25, 2026

Today, we conducted a 1-day seminar in Pangyo on Functional Safety for Automotive Semiconductors. The seminar was organized by the Korea Fabless Industry Association, and I participated as the instructor representing our company (Jeonghyun Kim / jeong.hyun.kim@howengworks.com).

The main topics covered during the seminar included:

• Practical methodologies for defining semiconductor specifications from a SEooC (Safety Element out of Context) perspective

• Key functional safety design concepts to consider in silicon top-level design

• Typical safety mechanisms implemented at the IP level

• Utilization of HSM for secure boot implementation

KOLAS 17020 accreditation

Many engineers who are directly responsible for semiconductor design in automotive applications attended the session. Although the seminar was limited to a one-day format, I believe it provided a valuable opportunity to address practical questions and challenges faced at the working level.

This program was previously offered as a 2-day course in November 2025, and it is scheduled to be conducted again this March in Wonju as a 2-day course.

Through continued collaboration with the Korea Fabless Industry Association, our company remains committed to providing practical training programs that help resolve real-world challenges faced by domestic fabless engineers.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Korea Fabless Industry Association for organizing this seminar, and to all the fabless engineers who took the time to participate.
